From the Orchester Pension Tina website (Orchester Pension Tina):-
To lift the spirits at upcoming political protests, a brass orchestra is formed spontaneously. It is renamed for each occasion and rehearsals are sporadic. In addition to the demonstrations, the orchestra brings its sound to benefit performances, art exhibitions and football matches for international solidarity.
In 2000, the musicians want to create a more permanent form while keeping the project’s vitality and decide to meet on a regular basis. In this band, which has been called “Okester Pension Tina” since then, the celebration of friendship is more important than a homogenous level of musicianship. That makes for a distinctive sound: professionals, amateurs and advanced beginners create a sound which may not be clean but is brilliant nevertheless. The repertoire, half of it consisting of own compositions, is as colourful as it is unpredictable…

As part of the Brighton Festival the Orchester Pension Tina are also appearing the following day – 15th May – at the Cowley Club, London Road, Brighton (www.cowleyclub.org.uk)
