A Night at the Opera

The Hall is proud to present  an evening of popular opera arias sung by Angharad Lyddon. In June 2019 Angharad will represent Wales in the prestigious BBC Cardiff Singer of the World Competition following her success at the Welsh Singers Showcase at St David’s Hall last year.

Angharad will also perform music theatre including music by Bizet, Elgar, Saints Saens and Jerome Kern, and art song, including English song, German Lieder and French chansons.

Mezzo-Soprano Angharad Lyddon lives locally in Brighton and is a graduate of the Royal Academy of Music, London, where her roles for Royal Academy Opera included Lucretia The Rape of Lucretia, Baba the Turk The Rake’s Progress and Zita Gianni Schicchi.

Recent and future engagements include Olga Eugene Onegin for Buxton Opera and Daughter of Akhnaten in English National Opera’s acclaimed production of Akhnaten by Philip Glass. Other roles include Woodpecker in Cunning Little Vixen for Glyndebourne where

Angharad was a Jerwood Young Artist in 2013, Cherubino le Nozze di Figaro, Dritte Dame Die Zauberflöte, Suzuki Madame Butterfly, Julia Bertram Mansfield Park and Hermia A Midsummer Night’s Dream.

Angharad is a Samling Artist and winner of 3rd Prize at Das Lied International Song Competition 2015. Concert highlights include recitals at Wigmore Hall and Stravinsky’s ‘The Faun and the Shepherdess’ at Royal Festival Hall with the London Philharmonic Orchestra, conducted by Vladimir Jurowski. Whilst a student at the Royal Academy of Music, Angharad was a Kohn Foundation Bach Cantata Scholar performing with many prominent Bach experts including singing the solos in a concert of cantatas with Sir John Eliot Gardiner.

The performance will commence at 7.30pm and finish at 9.30pm.  Doors open at 7pm and there is a licensed bar.  Tickets are £10 (£5 concessions).  Reserve tickets on line or call 07816 649797 to reserve tickets on the door.
