Additional Information

Introduction to SoundCalling
My name is Xenia Dieroff. I have been training and working in the therapeutic application of Sound over the past few years.
It never stops to amaze me what wonderful responses and deeply relaxing effects people experience from Sound.
With stress being the most common cause of all dis-ease in this day and age, I feel very passionate about bringing this relaxation tool to a wider audience and particularly to people who might not necessarily be exposed to this holistic practice.

I am a member of the Exeter Street Hall community and a mother of three boys, who have been coming to the Boys Brigade for years.
Having held several memorable children’s birthday parties at the hall, as well as having been to many other fantastic events, I now would like to give back and introduce the community to my Sound work.
I am inviting you to the Gong Bath I am holding on the 15th of December.
Hoping that I can share my enthusiasm and create a spark with the intention of setting up a regular monthly Gong Bath at the Hall in the new year.

For this first session half of each ticket sale will go to the benefit of the Hall.
I am very grateful for the support the Exeter Street Hall Team has given me, kindly waiving the first hire fee and setting up the ticketing through their website. So please come aplenty…
Hope to see you there!

What is a Gong Bath?
To immediately reassure, there is no water involved!

A Gong Bath is a form of Sound Healing,
the sacred sound of the Gongs and other related instruments are played to bring out well being,
the therapeutic application of sound with the intention to bring people into a state of harmony.

A Gong Bath is the perfect ‘timeless’ zone to simply ‘be’.
It provides a safe space to re-generate, re-nourish, and re-set your whole being – mind, body, emotions and soul.

The term “Gong Bath” has been coined by the renowned Gongmaster Don Conreaux and signifies being bathed in sound waves.
Listening to and sensing the sounds of gongs have a profoundly relaxing effect and are known to gently guide one into a meditative state without any effort.

So what happens in a Gong Bath?
It will start with a brief guided meditation, such as a breathing exercise and might include the sounds of singing bowls.
Then the gongs will be played for about 45 minutes at varying levels of intensity.
At the end some other instruments will be played to bring you back into your body and the moment, should you have fallen into deep sleep or lost yourself in dreams.

A Gong Bath is different every time and the experience of a Gong Bath is different each time too. So it is best not to have a set expectation.

One thing definitely NOT to expect is the crashing strike of the gong in the fashion of the trademark “gongman” of the Rank film distribution company!

What will I need to do?

All you need to do is arrive about 15 minutes early so you can settle in. Avoid a heavy meal or alcohol beforehand. Wear loose fitting, warm clothes and bring a mat, cushions and blankets. Everything you need to make yourself comfortable lying on the floor.* This can be a yoga mat, camping mat or thick blanket. You want to keep yourself warm as your body temperature will drop during the session.
Being comfortable is most important to gain the most from the session.
It is also beneficial to cover your eyes with a sleep-mask or a scarf, but is not essential should this make you feel uneasy.

This is a time for yourself,
Relax and listen inwards.
But really you don’t need to be doing anything!

* Should lying on the floor not be possible for you, please contact me and we can find a solution.
