The Great Get Together 2024 will be back on Sunday 23 June. Upper Hamilton Road and the sections of Buxton Road and Exeter Street closest to the Chimney House Pub will be closed from 10am-10pm.  Please move your cars from the closed area the night before if possible.

The street party takes place from 10.30am until 9.30pm, with music finishing at 9.30pm.  The streets will be decked with bunting, the stage will be set, there will be live music and DJs will spin their tunes. St Luke’s will hold an open-air service outside the Chimney House at 10.30am.

There will be lots of kids’ activities.  Table tennis in the hall, a kids’ games area, paper plane competition, face painting and more!   We hope to have a fire engine but that depends on availability.

We’re also very excited about our new ‘market’ which will take place in Buxton Road.  Residents of Prestonville can have a table top sale for a good old clear out or to sell things they have made (eg arts and crafts).  Please no larger/corporate businesses.  You’ll find the Hall’s plant and clothes sale in the market area too.

Music kicks off at 12pm with our first ever steel band!  Then we have a fabulous programme of bands, soloists and DJs (finishing at 9.30pm).

There will be plenty of opportunities to get refreshments during the day.  There will be a Pimm’s bar and BBQs at Joe’s and the Chimney House.  And if you’re hot (or not!) pop into Port Hall Stores for one of their amazing ice creams.  The groaning cake stall will be selling gorgeous cakes and treats.

There’s another chance this year to show off your pooch or puppy at the dog show (1.30pm with registration at noon). No pedigrees necessary and there are lots of fun categories.

There is so much to enjoy at the Great Get Together.  It’s a celebration of our community and a time to just enjoy being together.

Volunteering at the Great Get Together
The GGT is run by volunteers and we need a lot of help.  Be it setting up, clearing up, or taking bin bags of rubbish home – we need you!

How you can help:

  • Set up and/or clear up
  • Spending 1 hour (on a rota) keeping an eye on the children’s games area
  • Baking cakes and treats (no nuts please and delivered on the day after 10am)
  • Making some bunting or donating spare material (think shirts, tablecloths, old socks (clean please!). Drop at 14 Coventry Street or pop them in the black box in the garden by 15 June please.
