Community CPR & Defib Awareness Training

Elements First Aid is proud to have secured full funding from the Sussex Heart Charity for a Public Access Defibrillator (PAD) – a device that delivers an electric shock to someone in cardiac arrest. The shock can potentially allow a normal heart rhythm to resume, and the sooner it is delivered, the better their chance of survival. We are so lucky to have this vital piece of equipment in the heart of our community. You’ll find it on the outside of the building and it’s available 24/7.

We are passionate about raising awareness and are providing this FREE CPR and defibrillator training for anyone that lives near or uses the Hall. The more people that know how to use it the better, so come along and find out how it works.

TAI CHI/QI GONG – SHIBASHI
“STRENGTH THROUGH SOFTNESS”

Feeling stressed? Tired? Struggling? Isolated?
Join us for some lovely Shibashi-Qi Gong – a gentle form of Tai Chi which focusses on breathing, mobility, balance and stability. Tai Chi and Qi Gong are wondertul ways to feel better and stronger physically, mentally and emotionally!
Shibashi is a very gentle form of Tai Chi/Qi Gong developed specifically for people who have had health problems, surgery, for older people and anybody who might be struggling for any reason by moving ‘Qi’ (energy) around the body and improving circulation and massaging all the important meridian points. It is an amazing way to reduce blood pressure, anxiety, increase strength, balance and stability without straining in any way – a wonderful moving meditation.
We are a warm, welcoming group of all ages who practice this form together. If you are interested in joining us classes run at 11.30am on Fridays in short blocks.

The Hall is a lovely, light and airy space and they are strictly following Covid-19 regulations and feels very safe.

The cost will be just £20 for four weeks or you can pay £5 for the first session and the balance after the first session. If you cannot commit to 4 weeks you can book up to the day before each week for £6 if there are places available. Unfortunately we are not allowed to accept drop-ins so booking is essential.

Deirdre Counihan has lived locally since 1974, and along with a very busy career as a book illustrator, editor and writer has always worked as a teacher.  “When I heard that the Art classes in the Hall were bursting at the seams I was very happy to offer to start a secondary set of classes on Fridays 1.30 – 3pm . The classes will be £3 a session and I will try to cover a variety of techniques as well as drawing and painting. As the group will not be more than 10, I hope to be able to give as individual tuition as possible and it doesn’t matter what standard you feel you are, you will be very welcome.”
