Update

The Hall is now able to open to the public.  We’ve been working with our hirers to make sure they can run their groups in as safe a way as possible.  This may include reduced class sizes or new procedures such as using a booking system and paying by BACS.  Face coverings are mandatory from the 8th August.  There are some exceptions for health, age and equality reasons see here for details.

We hope you will support our hirers when you feel that you can.  Check with your group leader for up-to-date information for your class.   See https://exeterstreethall.org/whats-on/

We hope that art class, table tennis club and our Repair Café will all restart in September.  Please contact the group leader before attending a group.  See https://exeterstreethall.org/community-activities/.  You can follow the Repair Café on Facebook too.

Our Stay and Play will be paused this term with the aim of restarting in January or later in 2021, when it is considered safe to do so.

Update on Re-opening

Following recent announcements, we’re really pleased that Exeter Street Hall can reopen to the public on 4th July. However, there are considerable restrictions on what activities can take place.

Currently, we are not able to hold exercise/sports classes, singing groups, theatre and various other activities considered to be risky in an enclosed space.

We have been liaising with our regular hirers and community groups and, for many, a September restart seems most likely, but we would urge you to contact your group leader directly to keep up with their latest news.

It’s possible that we may host a limited number of our own community groups in July/August, check out our website https://exeterstreethall.org.

We look forward to seeing you in your Hall just as soon as that’s possible. Susan Corlelt, Manager [email protected].

Update on Football Fever – various dates in June

Football Fever

Hello there!

Rats! We’ve got unexpected title clashes (there are other events on!) so we need to revise our Football Fundraiser programme – and fast! Sorry!

Here’s how the matches NOW stack up:

Friday 13 June at 8pm (doors open from 7.30pm)
Spain v Netherlands, donations only

Come to our taster night. It’s a thriller of a match. The good news? Entrance is free. We’ve got pre-match nerves and we want to make sure we’ve got our tactics right. Come along and put us through our paces. (Enough puns for you?)

We’re keeping this one simple – rock up and watch the match. There will be a bountiful bar and super snacks. We’d still love you to let us know you’re coming. Hey, no one wants to run out of beer and we also need to flag up if we nudge close to full capacity; we can only seat 80.

Email [email protected] to let us know how many people you’ll be bringing along. And, gracious, if you have a good time, please text HALL20 £5 to 70070 on the night.

Thursday 19 June at 8pm (doors open from 7.30pm)
Uruguay v England. £5, including fab food

Enjoy the football and grab a delicious slice of authentic Italian pizza from our super supporters at Pizza 500. One bite and you’ll be hooked. Give them a call on 01273 911933 for takeaways or delivery.

Tuesday 24 June at 5pm (doors open from 4.30pm)
Costa Rica v England. £5, including great grub

Watch the match and tuck into a delicious piece of handmade pie from the delightful people at Higgidy Pies. You might have seen these stonking pies in local delis or the chilled section of your supermarket. Check out their charming story at: www.higgidy.co.uk

There will be a bar at both events. A good chunk of tickets have already sold, so email [email protected] to reserve your place today.

Come along. Support the Hall. All profit will go towards repairing our dreadful drains. We need to raise £5,500; it’s an incredibly lumpy sum. But it will make a HUGE difference. We will be able to stop water seeping back under the Hall and ruining our back room so drastically that it’s permanently out of action.

See you there! We’ll be the ones singing Nessun Dorma. Quite badly.

Best wishes,

THGI Team

We need to cancel our 5pm screening of Mexico v Cameroon this Friday. As compensation, help us with our pre-match nerves, and book your places for the 8pm thriller of Spain v Netherlands. Free entry, but do text HALL20 £5 to 70070 on the night if you have a good time!

There will be a bountiful bar, super snacks and a great atmosphere. It’s set to be a good night for grown-ups, (but if the occasional youngster squeaked in, that would be fine!)

Tea Club – a new club for seniors. FIRST SESSION FREE

Tea club* fortnightly on Friday afternoons from 2.30pm 4pm. Trial period: 2,16,30 May and 13,27 June and 11 July.

Tea

We are launching a tea club for the older members of our community. We’d like to invite all local seniors (who are welcome to bring their friends or carers) along for a mighty fine brew, the occasional homemade cake and the chance to have a natter with their neighbours. We¹re hoping to build a regular opportunity to gather in Exeter Street Hall over a gentle cuppa and develop activities of interest for those who attend.

Our first session on Friday 2 May is free. Thereafter, the fee will be just £1 per person towards costs.

Can you help spread the word? If you know anyone in the neighbourhood likely to be interested in this event, please let them know. We¹d love to have them along; the more, the merrier.

Can you help spread the love? This is a THGI activity organised by a couple of can-do volunteers. If you would like to lend a hand and help set up, fill the urn and have a chin-wag with our guests, we¹d love to hear from you.

Email [email protected] or call 01273 561149 for further information.

*also serving coffee!
